Anyone selling products online faces the same major hurdles. We all need to get traffic to our sites and convince them to buy from us and not get a similar product from someone else. There are no instant shortcuts to getting traffic, absent paid advertising (and that is if you know what you are doing). Traffic that you get from search engines is certainly targeted and very desirable. However, although this SEO traffic is sometimes called an “autopilot” or “passive” stream, this is not really true. It can take hard work to get a website ranking high in the search engines to get more than a trickle of traffic, especially with Google, if your main search terms are reasonably competitive. The payoff at the end can be good, but don’t be deluded about how much work may be involved.
