Scion xB exhaust, mufflers, headers, etc.?

Posted by admin on October 15th, 2009 and filed under performance parts accessories | 2 Comments »

This question is for people with a bit of experience in the automotive field.

I have been looking at performance headers and mufflers for my 2006 scion xB. I have found some specific models that I like but I am a little nervous about. The following link are two that I am looking at.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/04-07-Scion-Xa-Xb-4Cyl-Black-Ceramic-Performance-Header_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ39Q3a1Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a15Q7c240Q3a1318QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem120312575977QQitemZ120312575977

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Car-Truck-Parts-Accessories__04-05-06-TOYOTA-SCION-XB-AXEL-CATBACK-EXHAUST-MUFFLER_W0QQitemZ120312197875QQadnZCarQ20Q26Q20TruckQ20PartsQ20Q26Q20AccessoriesQQadiZ2865QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item120312197875&_trkparms=39%3A1|65%3A2|240%3A1318&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245

The reason I am so nervous is the fact that these don’t seem to have a brand.

What I am trying to ask is:
Can headers and mufflers actually do any damage to the car?
Are these reputable choices? (see links above)
If not, where can I find some in the same price range?

Thanx

If i were you, I’d not really go with the stuff on ebay. I did once and the stuff was very cheap and didn’t even fit well. Ended up being a loss. If you really want to do this to your car, look for some Scion forums and look for opinions or reviews there. That’s what I do with the mods for my Subaru.

here are two to get you started

I need help with what to wear on an orchestra performance!?

Posted by admin on October 11th, 2009 and filed under performance parts accessories | 1 Comment »

I am a part of our school orchestra and we have an upcoming performance. I can’t decide on what to buy. Our orchestra colors are black only. We can wear black blouse with a black skirt that goes below the knee or black pants. Also, black dresses that aren’t too revealing are allowed. Please help!

Post links to the clothes. And I want something cheap. Like from Forever 21 and Wet Seal or something like that. :) It would be appreciated if you would include accessories. And if you would do it in polyvore.com, it would be amazing! :D Thank you.
I am a viola player. :)

First of all are you a violin/viola or cello player? Becase wearing a dress or skirt could be a little hard if you play cello.

How legit is this item?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PERFORMANCE-CHIP-Dodge-Plymouth-Neon-RT-FUEL-SAVER-NEW_W0QQitemZ390032019343QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item390032019343&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318

If this isnt then what would be a better choice?

don’t throw your $ away on a $20.00 chip. real performance cost money.

if you google for forums for your car you will find other owners who have modified their cars. ask the forum members about chip modification.

hope this helps

Is This car worth buying ?

Posted by admin on October 7th, 2009 and filed under performance parts accessories | 8 Comments »

Im wanting to purchase a used acura integra for the parts
Its listed for 800$
It has a wiring problem so it wont run.
i would be using it for parts and getting free scrap pick up on it
Should i buy it for all the parts and acessories and install them into my honda

All performance accessories are installed seats, stereo shifter.pedals. carbon fiber spoiler.tinted windows.e brake handle.turbo. short shift.steering wheel etc.
Good deal Or Bad?
thanks

iffy, see if you can get another hundred or two off it

what year? will any of the aftermarket parts fit your vehicle? if you can use them that’s ok but if you;re hoping to resell them there isnt much of a market for used aftermarket stuff, is the engine/transaxle good enough to sell as is to someone?

if you have usable body parts and glass that’s not a bad deal though.

Is this performance chip real? Will it really give the results it says?

Car Stereo Amplifier wattage question??

Posted by admin on October 5th, 2009 and filed under performance parts accessories | 2 Comments »

I have 2 12 " 300 watt subs….

My amp I beleive is 360 watts? (I just bought it and that is what the guy told me)

So my first question is can I hook both subs to that amp? Or do I need to get an amp that is 600 watt? (is there a 600 watt amp?)

What happens if I connect both subs to the amp I have now? Will it work or blow?

My second question is- this is only my beginner system. So will this pound? I mean will people be able to tell I have a system cause you can hear nice Bass?

The Subs in box

THANK YOU!! (Im just starting out)

If you wire them to drop the impedence down to 2ohms, and you provide adequate cooling (airflow) to the amplifier, that should power your system fine. Your woofers can handle a *peak* load of 300w — not a continuous load. They appear to be 4 ohm each, so wired in parallel you will have a 2 ohm system. If these speakers have seperate voice coil connections (I can not tell from your picture the exact model) you will need to wire in serial to avoid overloading your amp.

This wizard will help you determine exactly how to wire them:

http://www.cardomain.com/shop/wooferwizard.pl?num_of_subs=1&impedance_of_subs=dual%204%20ohms

If you are aiming to achieve the best loudness and quality, I highly recommend that you wire the subs to the lowest Ohm rating provided by your amplifier (2 ohms).

What do you think about these heads.?

Posted by admin on October 5th, 2009 and filed under performance parts accessories | 5 Comments »

I stumbled across these heads on ebaymotors.com and was just wondering if you guys thought these would work well with a Chevy Bowtie Block with a 4.125 bore. the only problem with these heads is I can’t find an RPM operating range.

I’m still kinda BS’ing parts right now, not really blueprinting yet. I just bought the block from Hendicks. 350 Bowtie Block .125 over. 4 bolt splayed main. Siamese bore. I’m not going to start building or really get into until the summer when I have more time. I plan on building and then selling. I want to make about 600hp N/A. Any suggestions on parts or any links to other build would be appreciated. Thanks for your help.

Great cheap street head. No where close to a good street/strip, or race head.

I myself would pass them by, and look at Brodix, canfeild, and AFR. More money, but must better castings, better flow, more power.

Why are people so foolish to purchase the worst motorcycle in the world?

Posted by admin on October 3rd, 2009 and filed under performance parts accessories | 18 Comments »

HD’s are measurably the worst motorcycle in the world. HD’s are not "Made in America", have Japanese parts all over them, poor performance and worse handling. If the only thing that you can point at as an attribute is that it’s loud and obnoxious, while it shivers, shakes and falls apart…why would I (or anyone) actually want to own one? Truth is HD (As a corporate entity) does exactly one thing better than any other Motorcycle Maker..It markets accessories. In fact HD makes more $$ selling apparel and other misc. junk than they make on motorcycles. (Regardless that HD Bikes are over-priced, low performance, embarassing piece’s of "Machinery"). So I guess this question is based on how did;Tattoos, Smoking, Drinking, Drugs and Stupid behavior ever get associated with Harley, and what HD Genius decided to exploit it? Last thing, I have owned more than 75 bikes of virtually every make (including HD) and my opinion is based on an excess of 500,000 miles & 30 years in the wind. (Ride on)

People are entitled to ride whatever they like, and if marketed right you can sell ice to Eskimos, so you basically answered your own question.
The other thing to remember is that majority of the Harley riders are actually in the USA, and they are very loyal to things that had a start in their home turf. The rest of the world, it comes back to marketing those accessories, because even HD know that the Jap, Korean spinoffs perform much better than the original, so got to make money where you can. (it is still a business)
