The San Francisco port of departure is very popular and common in general. You needn’t be concerned about making reservations for an Alaskan cruise that leaves from San Francisco, because that is actually quite simple to do. Many of the most popular cruise lines heading towards Alaska offer you the choice between several ports. If you find that perhaps traveling to Vancouver or even Seattle is too far for you to go, than you it is usually simple to find a cruise line which departs out of San Francisco as most of them do.

In the peak season of April to September, Princess Cruise Lines has lots of cruises to choose from. Their San Francisco prices are a little higher due to how far north you will be travelling on the ship before you reach Alaska. Because departing from Vancouver requires less time at sea and provides more time to explore the pleasures of Alaska, some people find it preferable.

As already mentioned, Royal Caribbean also offers cruises that depart from San Francisco during the best months of the year. All of these cruise companies have reduced fares for last minute travelers or for less than spectacular board on the ship.

Cultural charms can also be found in vintage shops and online sites. Some of these gold charms may include gemstones or specific icons from a culture. Many of the Native American styles of charms featured bits of turquoise while charms from South Africa may have a small diamond chip.

Hearts, lockets and cameo types of gold charms are very popular as vintage and collector charms. They may have initials or personal messages engraved either inside or on the back, depending on the style of the charm.

For those that don’t want to consider used vintage gold charms, there is always the option to look for new replicas of these classic charms. Several jewelry manufacturers are going back to the traditional types of gold charms including movable charms and enameled charms, perfect for a touch of nostalgia on your gold charm bracelets.

We went to one of my favorite Beach last Saturday. We left early in the morning and road a boat going to Guimaras Island then we had a 45 minutes drive to the beach. upon reaching our destination we immediately change our clothes and went directly to the beach and swim.

After 2 hours of swimming we went back to our cottage to prepare our food, we grilled some fish and also had pork barbecue. Of course our day wont be complete without our favorite brand of beer. We spend the afternoon drinking and having fun. We slept early that night probably because of too much beer. In the morning we rent a small kayak and paddled our self to the other side of the beach, we swim for an hour and went back to have breakfast. We spend the rest of the day basking in the sun before deciding to go home. I was hoping to spend one more day on the beach but work is waiting for me when I get back. Hopefully I can go back again to that place before the summer ends.

Alaska Cruises Today

While it’s far too easy to spend a large amount of money on an Alaskan cruise, you certainly don’t need to do so. I personally use a few simple strategies to turn up some great Alaska cruise deals. With a little research by you, flexibility in the timings of your departure and a firmness on your part it is quite possible to have discounts and special packages for an Alaska cruise that would be an astonishingly memorable life time experience for you.

The timings play a huge impact on the costs involved if you want to go to Alaska. If at all possible, be flexible! The best bargains and discounts are always offered during non-peak and shoulder seasons. You’ll save money on your Alaskan cruise, if you don’t book the cruise for either June, July, or August but rather go for those that leave in the shoulder season months of May, September, or October. The days will be a little shorter, and it’s bound to be colder, but an Alaskan cruise is beautiful year round.

The type of cabin you choose is another area where you can easily shave a large amount off the potential cost of an Alaskan cruise. For example, it costs quite a bit more to have an outside cabin, and an outside cabin with a balcony is even more expensive. You’ll find that travelers on a cruise to Alaska spend very little time in their cabins. A huge part of the fun of a cruise is meeting the other travelers and sharing the glorious, expansive views of the Alaskan coast while relaxing on deck or at the bar.

Narrowing down your choice of car rentals.

When looking for a car rental, it will soon becomes obvious that you are swamped with choice e.g) Enterprise car rental, Thrift car rental, Advantage car rental etc. A tip for narrowing your choice down is to start with a bulleted point list of criteria you must have. To begin with, first consider the rental car agreement; is there limited slots in which to pick up and drop off your car? Are you going to be under pressure if your plane is late for example, or maybe you are tired and just want to get off home on your return? Another question you should ask yourself is what if any excess is payable if the car is damaged; it may be worth paying the excess waiver insurance (it could be money well spent if an accident doe happen and you are in a foreign land and cannot speak to the local people). Drinking Kava in Fiji

Posted by admin on February 5th, 2010 and filed under Travel | No Comments »

I just returned from a trip to Fiji – what a great place! The weather is warm, the water is warm and the people are warm and friendly! I tried this drink called kava – they also call it yaqona in Fijian or ‘grog’, I guess that’s a hold-over from the British colony days – anyway. This stuff can really kick your butt!

I met some of the local Fijian guys that work in the place I was staying and they invited me to drink kava with them one night. I was staying out by this village and we went to this small house with no electricity, just oil lanterns – and it was all Fijian guys – I was the only white guy. But we sat around on the floor while they mixed up water and kava powder in this big wooden bowl.

Once it was ready they said some kind of Fijian blessing over and began to serve it – the local chief got the first cup and then I was served the 2nd cup (as the guest of honor, I guess), then each of the other 6 guys in turn. After we drank we talked for a bit until the next round. The stuff tasted kind of earthy and bitter – yeah, like muddy water – and besides my mouth getting a little numb I didn’t really feel anything.

After about 2 hours of this I had to go outside to relieve myself – as soon as I stood up that’s when I felt it! I practically had to grab the wall to keep from falling over! I was OK once I steadied myself – it just caught me by surprise. Really, your mind stays pretty clear while your body gets relaxed.

Now that I’m home I found this place online to buy Fiji kava – kickbackwithkava.com – and it’s just like I’m back in the islands again. I’m getting some of my friends into it now – I figure it’s gotta be better than alcohol!
